About two dozen states run their own OSHA-approved plans, and some — notably California (Cal/OSHA) — enforce lower or additional exposure limits. Recommended cartridge: Ammonia/Methylamine — Green band

An APR fitted with the correct cartridge is only adequate up to its MUC (below) — the cartridge must be able to capture ammonia. APR usable up to the 300 ppm IDLH; above IDLH supplied air/SCBA is mandatory. Odor threshold (~5 ppm) is below the exposure limit, so warning properties are adequate.
